Granny-like Stars

Last year Sarah London posted a couple of pictures of some amazing granny stars on her website. She also offered the pattern for them but I wasn't keen on buying it so I improvised and tried to figure out how to hook some similar stars. This is the result:

I finally ended up crocheting a couple of those stars in different colours, joined them nicely and voilĂ :

Pin Cushions

I found some great pictures of pin cushions at ravelry while looking for new crochet patterns. Luckily, the pattern was for free. I had a look at it and started hooking right away. This is how my pin cushion turned out:

Sunflower Pop-Up Card

My mom loves sunflowers. Therefore I made a sunflower pop-up card for her for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. This is how it turned out:

Crochet a Rainbow

At the beginning of the year, Sarah London started a charity project for the people affected by the floods in Australia. She started to collect granny squares to make blankets out of them. I bet she still has a whole lot of them to join as she got about a 1000 from all over the world. These are the granny squares I sent to her:

Amigurumi Ugly Bunny

A friend of mine is totally into ugly dolls. So when I found a crochet pattern for an amigurumi ugly bunny online I started hooking her one right away!

I also crafted a little box for it:

Small Doll Jacket

This project was not planned at all. One rainy evening while I was watching TV I suddenly felt like crocheting but didn't know what. I just started with some CH, added some DC and finally ended up crocheting a small jacket.

First, I made the sleeves...

...then a waistcoat...

...and then I sewed all parts together.

Unfortunately, I didn't write down any pattern while crocheting.

Marimekko Pop-Up Card

There's nothing like sending self-made holiday cards!
Lately, it became some kind of a tradition that a very special friend of mine - Kristin she's called - gets a Marimekko card from me for Easter. I made this pop-up card for her in 2010. The pattern I used is the famous Unikko, definitely my most favourite one.

Crocheting: Seamless Join

I'm currently joining a couple of rounds, that's what inspired me to do this post.
Normally, joining rounds is done by slip stiching into the top of the beginning 3 ch. Well, unfortunately that normally turns out looking not that nice. Luckily I came across a great technique thanks to a blog post by Sarah London, a seamless join.

Check it out here: Seamless Join by Sarah London

Paper, Wool & Yarn

I love to craft, I love to crochet and I love to give presents - and that is what this blog is about. I'll try to post regular updates on crafting and/or crocheting projects I'm working on, give tips on certain techniques, tell you about great patterns, etc.

I know that at this very moment my blog is far from being 'ready for go-live'. It doesn't have a proper header, there's no real background picture, no colour, no nothing and the list of links on the right side contains only one tiny entry so far. Well, I promise things will get better during the next days/weeks. But yet, despite of all the things that are still missing here, I decided to make this blog public at this stage. For me, crocheting and crafting means therapy. I'm neither physically nor psychologically ill, I'm just that average person whose soul needs some relaxing, some downtime from real life, some therapy from time to time. That's it, that's my excuse.
