Put On Hold

Hello everyone,

after not blogging regularly for quite a while now and thinking about quitting blogging for more than a year already, I finally decided to put my blog Paper, Wool & Yarn on hold.

As for now, I'll leave my blog as it is. No articles will be deleted, no patterns or printables will be taken down. I might even publish some new planner inserts during the next couple of months. And maybe there will be some new videos over at YouTube every once in a while. But I can't promise you anything

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who followed me throughout the years!!

Lovely Sunset

Hello everyone,

a couple of days ago there was yet another lovely sunset here in Kassel. Let me show you some pictures.

Apart form that, I am not so happy to report that I am once again having to deal with a tonsillitis. Which means a lot of reading, a lot of Netflix and Amazon Prime lately and some yummy antibiotics ;) But I am recovering slowly but steadily.

Enjoying some "open fire" while reading in the evening :)

Rainbows in Autumn

Hello everyone,

most of you probably know how fond I am of Autumn. It is definitely my most favourite season :)

And as usual, I rang in Autumn on the 1st of September this year by changing the decor in my little apartment.

Not long after that, Mother Nature greeted us with a wonderful rainbow.

Friendship Bracelets with Friends

Hello everyone,

I'm back! Well, at least for a couple of blog posts. At this point I can't promise anything regarding regular blogging but we'll see how thing are going. But for now let's catch up on a few things that happened while I was MIA...

In early August I visited my friend Kristin as well as my wonderful god daughter in Gera. A couple of week prior to the trip we decided to make some friendship bracelets during our stay. So for the hostess gifts I took up the theme and created some small friendship bracelet key chains.

During our stay we crafted some heart-themed friendship bracelets. I made the purple one, Kristin went for yellow and orange.

It's amazing how fast you remember how to make those bracelets even when the last time you tried was more than 10 years ago :)

Zodiac Signs & Constellations & Free Printables & Changes to the Blog

Hello everyone,

a little while ago I had the great idea to decorate my bedroom walls with the constellations of the zodiac signs. Well, I didn't expect that DIY project to take that long but in the end it took me about 8 hours in total to finish it.

First I looked for some useful pictures online using the google image search. Afterwards I transferred these onto paper using Gimp and Microsoft Word. I'll spare you the details here.

The most annoying part was to figure out where to place which constellation. I ended up using some yarn, a triangle, a straightedge and some crepe tape to do that.

Having all the constellations in place I added about 180 fluorescent star shaped stickers to the wall.

And I am more than happy with the result :)

What do you think? :)

And as I'm totally into zodiac signs and star constellations lately I thought it would be awesome to create some zodiac sign printables for you. Click on the picture below to download your copy :)

Soooooo last but not least, there are some changes I have in mind for my blog or better to say for my blogging schedule. Currently, I am trying to post something every two weeks. But to be honest, at the moment it's kinda hard for me to find the time, the topics and the energy to do so. So what I am planning to do is trying to post monthly for a little while. One post per month. I am not quite sure yet on which day will be posting day but I'll figure that one out soon I guess.

Alright, that's it for today.

Happy Craftin'!

A little book of quotes

Hi all,

a little while ago I sent some happy mail to my friend Sarra who lives in Algeria (check out her YouTube channel).

One piece of that little happy mail bundle was a little book of quotes. And I thought it might be fun to share how I created it.

So first I choose a special paper for the cover, cut it in shape and folded it in half.

Next I added the pages using paper with different flowery patterns. I then sewed cover and pages together using needle and thread.

Afterwards I logged on to pinterest, went through my quotes board (it's private, sorry), picked out my favourite ones and printed them on sticker paper.

I then cut the quotes out - line by line - and put them on the different pages - DONE!

See, so easy :)

Happy Crafting, everyone!

My favorite crafting tools

Hello everyone,

today I'd like to talk about my most favorite crafting tools. There are a couple I use almost all the time and can't live without anymore :)

Cutting Board
About a year or so ago I bought a cheap cutting board from one of the local discounters. Don't wanna miss it anymore. It makes crafting with paper so much easier and faster. And it also comes in handy when you're creating your own planner inserts like I do.

Adjustable Hole Punch
I learned to love my adjustable hole punch the day I started to create and print inserts for my Filofax planner. It cost me about 11€ if I remember correctly and I thought it quite pricey at first but over the last couple of months I figured it's worth the price.

Japanese Screw Punch
I tried several multi punch tools and failed using them before I came across a Japanese screw punch while watching a Martha Stewart video on YouTube. I am not exaggerating when I say this changed my crafting game a lot. But to be honest, the first screw punch I bought, it was a pretty cheap one, was garbage at best. The second, which cost a bit more, was way better and is still in use.

Precision Craft Tool
This set includes six different cutter blades, one embosser and one awl. I bought it ages ago at Tchibo. Again, one of those tools that absolutely comes in handy when crafting with paper.

Triangle
Whenever I make an envelope, a notebook or other creations of such sort, my triangle is my best friend. This is a habit that probably built from my mum's influence and I definitely can't blame her for that :)

What are your favorite crafting tools? Anything you can recommend?

Thanks for stopping by :)

Turtle Cushion & Happy Mail

Hello everyone,

I figured it's been a while since I share a crochet project with you so here's one today :)

I hooked a fun little Turtle Cushion for my god daughter for her birthday at the beginning of the year and I must say I am more than happy with how it turned out :)

For the turtle shell I used an African flower pattern I found on Pinterest. Head, feet and tail are out of a book called Crochet - The complete step-by-step guide, Essential techniques, More than 80 patterns. I got it from TK Maxx a few years ago. The rest is freestyle more or less. I even had to sew the pillow which is inside the turtle's belly.

Apart from that I wanted to share with you some happy mail I sent not too long ago. I made the envelope myself and finally had the opportunity to use my new seal stamp.

What do you think :)

All things planner related

Hello everyone,

Today's post is for the planner people out there!

First things first, the Filofax Inserts for April are available! Go to the Planner Inserts page to grab your copy :)

New inserts - one sentence a day

Apart from that, I just recently created some additional inserts I'd like to share with you today:
  • "one sentence a day"
This one's for memory keeping and/or easy journaling. Each file contains pages for 28 days, 30 days and 31 days These inserts are available in either A5 or personal.
  • "order tracker"
This insert is designed to help you track outbound as well as inbound orders. There are columns for order date, shipping date, tracking numbers, etc.

I also got a bit creative right in my planner a little while ago. For whatever reason I felt the urge to create a little motivational board. I wanted it to be accessible for me as a little reminder so it had to be part of my planner.

And that's it for today.

See you soon!

Self-Made Stationery & Free Easter Printables

Hello my friends,

I just recently bought this amazing hand lettering book by Frau Annika. It so inspired me to design some stationery. Well, basically I was just doodling on white sheets of paper but I think it turned out quite cute, don't you think?

Quite a fun way to create unique stationery. I am thinking about writing a tutorial for this, what do you guys think?

And with Easter not too far away, I thought it would be great to offer a new set of free printables :) Of course the printables had to be Easter related and sort of colorful.

Easter egg madness :)

A lil' something for the planner people :)

Happy Craftin' my friends and see you soon!

Planner Fun & Happy Mail

Hello everyone,

well, first things first, the new planner inserts for March are available for download. As per usual, please go to the Planner Inserts page to grab your copy!

Besides the March inserts I also have another planner goodie for you - a Harry Potter Movie Tracker :) Its design is pretty basic so there's plenty of space to add some color if you like.

I am wondering, are there any inserts you would like me to add to my collection? Any special trackers, overviews, etc? Maybe a special format like A5 for example? If so, please let me know in the comments below and I will see what I can do :)

Apart from that I decorated my planner just recently with some easy self-made stickers. For the stickers I simply printed a couple of nice pictures I found via Google Picture Search as well as some of my own printables on a sheet of sticker paper. This made me think I should create more printables throughout the year, it's so much fun to work with them :)

Okay, so one might get the impression my world solely turns around planners and such. Well, I am happy to tell you that's not the case :) There are also other fun things like for example some Happy Mail I created and sent out in January. It has arrived by now so it's safe to share ;)

Happy Mail for my friend Kristin
I am soooo in love with wax seals lately :)

Happy Mail sent to my friend Sarra in Algeria

Happy Mail sent to my friend Dena in the United States

Well, that's it for today. Happy planning and crafting y'all!

DIY Tassels made from Yarn Scraps [Tutorial]

Hello everyone,

as usual I did some crocheting over the Christmas holidays. And while I was fiddling around with plenty of yarn scraps I had the idea to use them for another crafting project instead of just throwing them away. For whatever reason the only thing I could think of was making tassels, something I wanted to try for quite a while now. And here's the result:

Those tassels are quite easy to make...

Start by choosing some yarn scraps that are not too short in length.

Bundle them with yet another piece of yarn and tie two knots.

Use some nice looking thread and start wrapping it around the tassel.

When you're happy with the result, close by tying two to three knots. Afterwards use a needle to draw the ends of the thread through the tassel as shown in the picture below.

Cut off the excess thread and shorten the tassel to the desired length - Done!

Now I have to figure out what to do with all those tassels ;)

Happy Craftin'!
