Yarn Haul

Hey Ladies!

I know, I know, I haven't been on here that often lately. But I promise that doesn't mean I'm not working on some crafting or crochet projects. As a matter of fact, I am currently busy preparing some sort of Halloween special. Furthermore, I already started working on some Christmas decor. So I'm quite positive I'll have some new crafty creations to share with you in June.

In the meantime, a little yarn haul! I stocked up on yarn, mainly acrylic but also a cotton blend.

So in the picture you can see...

...a huge blue skein of blue acrylic yarn on the right. I bought it at Real (comparable to Walmart) a little while ago and it seems to be their own brand.
Knitting Yarn Maxi Quick - Color code 735, 400g, 1066m, 100% acrylic yarn, hook size 3-3.5mm

...on the bottom left three cream-colored skeins of another acrylic yarn. These I bought at Galeria Kaufhof (a German department store chain).
Schachenmayr Bravo - Color Code 8200, 133m, 50g, 100% acrylic yarn, hook size 3-4mm

...on top of the Schachenmayr Bravo skeins two colorful skeins of - you might have guessed it already - yet another acrylic yarn. This one was also bought at Galeria Kaufhof.
Schachenmayr Bravo Color - Color code 2083, 50g, 133m, 100% acrylic yarn, hook size 3-4mm

...on the very top one skein of a turquoise cotton yarn, which I bought at Wolle Rödel, one of the many local yarn shops here in Kassel.
Rico Design essentials cotton lurex - Color Code 10, 50g, 170m, 97% cotton, 3% Polyester (lurex), hook size 3mm

I didn't buy most of that yarn on purpose, it just came my way more or less :)

Alright, that's it so far! Today I'm enjoying a day off because it's a public holiday (Fronleichnam, Corpus Christi). I originally planned to go to a garden festival with a friend. Unfortunately, it's been raining for three days straight now so we decided to postpone that. So hopefully on Saturday the weather will be better. No rain and some sunshine would be awesome. But well, we'll see...

Talk to you soon, ladies!

Yours
Uta

Please Welcome Kristin!!!

Dear all,

I've got a very exciting announcement to make:
Paper, Wool & Yarn welcomes a Guest Blogger - please say hello to Kristin!

Kristin and I met during our studies at the University of Erfurt. During that time we did not only share the same campus, we grew close friends. Kristin later moved first to Dresden and then to Berlin while I made a three years pit stop at my parents' place and then finally ended up in Kassel.
While we might be living hundreds of kilometers apart now and we might not see each other that often, there are still many things we share - like the love to craft and to crochet, to knit, to be creative.

Kristin will share her little self-made creations with us now and then right here on this blog. This will include almost everything from baked goods to all things sewn. And I'm quite sure you will love those things just as much as I do!

Oh, I am so excited!!! And soooo thankful she said yes when I asked her to join me here :)

Yours
Uta

This Year's Mother's Day Card

This year, I gave my mum this self-made card for Mother's Day together with a small orchid and a glass jar filled with homemade almond quinoa granola. From what I can tell, she liked it :)

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day, ladies!!!

Mama's Up-cycling Project: A Pincushion

Hi everyone,

I know it's been pretty quiet here for a little while. Due to a busy schedule at work as well as some important family events, I didn't find the time to work on new project lately. So I guess, you'll have to be patient with me for a little while. New things will come, just not that soon.

In the meantime, let me share a project with you that my mama just finished:

This once was an Alverde cream jar.

You might have guessed it already, my mama is the reason for me crocheting and crafting that much :) Did I mention she's the best? Well, I guess all mamas are :)

See you soon, ladies!

Yours
Uta
